Humanity Blossoms

Like the rose, we are all different yet the same
White, black, yellow, red, precious yet so plain
Our roots planted deep within earth
While love and hate in the shapes of petals are
Scattered in the dust
Like the rose, we need to have our hearts pruned
Of prejudices that decay and disease our souls
Our cultural diversity is our most treasured prize
Without it our history withers and dies
Like the rose we too must be fed
So education must be our complete food
Like the hybrid rose, our hardness is gained at the
Expense of others, so let our softness touch
Our sisters and brothers. Like the rose, humanity
Blossoms only if given care and room.
